Haulover Sandbar FAQs
What is the Haulover Sandbar?
The Haulover Sandbar is a shallow, waist-deep area in Biscayne Bay near Haulover Inlet, between Miami Beach and Bal Harbour. On weekends, dozens of boats anchor here creating a floating party. The water is clear and calm, and you can stand on the sandy bottom. It is the most popular boating destination in Miami.
How much does a Haulover Sandbar yacht charter cost?
Sandbar charters start from $1,200 for a 4-hour trip on a 30-40ft boat for up to 10 guests. Mid-size yachts (50-65ft) for 12-20 guests run $2,500-$5,000. Large party yachts (80ft+) for 30-60+ guests start at $6,000. All include captain, crew, and fuel.
What should I bring to the Haulover Sandbar?
Bring sunscreen (reef-safe preferred), swimsuits, towels, sunglasses, a waterproof phone case, and a cooler with food and drinks (BYOB is welcome on most charters). Floats, pool noodles, and inflatable toys are popular. Wear non-marking shoes for the yacht, and bring a change of clothes for after.
What is the best day and time to visit the Haulover Sandbar?
Weekends (Saturday and Sunday) from 11 AM to 4 PM are the busiest and most social. For a quieter experience, go on a weekday or arrive early (before 11 AM). The sandbar is best at low to mid tide when the water is waist-deep. Your captain knows the optimal timing.
Can kids go to the Haulover Sandbar?
Yes. The shallow, calm water is safe for children with supervision. Many families visit the sandbar for swimming and playing in the sand. Weekday visits are calmer and better for young children. Life jackets are provided for all ages.
Is there a bathroom at the Haulover Sandbar?
There are no facilities on the sandbar itself. This is one of the biggest advantages of chartering a yacht -- your vessel has a head (bathroom), shade, seating, and all the amenities you need. You can swim to the sandbar and return to the yacht whenever you want.
Can we play music at the Haulover Sandbar?
Yes. Most yachts have Bluetooth sound systems. Music is part of the sandbar experience, especially on weekends. Be mindful of volume and the boats around you. Some larger yachts accommodate DJs and full sound setups for party charters.
